The current rate stands at 105¥ = $1. 6/26/04: Another rate change Our exchange rate is down a bit, at 102¥ = $1. 6/1/04: Exchange rate updated We are currently at 105¥ to the dollar. 5/14/04: More good news! Our exchange rate has improved again, to 107¥ = $1. 4/28/04: Going up? The exchange rate is now 103¥ to the buck, and we're darn glad to hear it. 4/2/04: Yep, another rate change Next time somebody says, "penny for your thoughts?", you can give 'em a yen instead, because the two are now worth exactly the same amount. Current exchange rate is 100¥ to the dollar. 3/24/04: ...and down again. Rats. 101 yen to the dollar. Let's all hear it for economic uncertainty... woooo. :P Ah, well, at the risk of jinxing anything, at least it's not too much of a change. 3/1/04: Up! The rate has changed for the better!! Okay, so I never thought I'd be this excited about three little yen, but when it's a step in the right direction, I think it's worth a bit of enthusiasm. Our exchange rate is now 104¥ to the dollar. 2/5/04: First rate change of the year As the dollar continues to suck, we're forced to adjust our exchange rate downwards a bit. We're currently at 101 yen to the buck. 11/19/03: Rate change time Well, we held out as long as we could, but we finally have to adjust the rate again. We're at 103 yen to the dollar right now. Here's hoping it changes again in the near future, but in the other direction this time! 9/26/03: US dollar still oozing downwards 106 yen to the buck right now, and while we're not here to discuss politics, it's a pretty good guess whose fault it is. :P Keeping our fingers crossed that the dollar recovers soon! 9/22/03: Another rate change Can't believe it was actually stable for over two months, but the rate has finally changed again. We're at 112 yen to the buck. 7/4/03: You guessed it, another rate change *pulls out the syrup, as the international finance rate is waffling again* We're now at 114 yen to the dollar. Woot! 5/13/03: What goes up... ...must come down, sadly. The current rate is back to 112 yen to the buck. Ah, well, here's hoping the next change is a positive swing! ^_^ 4/14/03: Puttin' the "change" in "exchange" Things are looking up a bit on the financial side of things! Our exchange rate now stands at 114 yen to the dollar. So heck, go ahead and splurge on that extra lami-card! 2/26/03: Exchange rate changes once again Well, it's the old and downs of the financial market, and we've just hit a down. You look fabulous. 2/7/03: Mmmmm... more yen to the buck Looks like the exchange rate is improving, and we're currently at 115 yen to the dollar. Note it down, and spend accordingly! ^_^ In other news, we're working on a largish update to this site, which should be done tomorrow -- expect some new anime cel links,additional shipping information, and general fluff. 1/17/03: Exchange rate updated Just when we were privately gloating about the exchange rate remaining unchanged for an entire month, the winds of change blew once again and messed with our bookkeeping. :P Please note that the new rate is now 112 yen to the dollar. 12/31/02: HAPPY NEW YEAR! All the best holiday wishes to you and those you love. ^_^ Just a quick note here to let you know that New Years is a big holiday in Japan, so many people take the week off. Expect to see less items listed on Japanese auction sites during this time. In addition, while Celga will be short-handed during this week, we're staying open nonetheless. I'm convinced, by the way, that the most unbelievable thing in all of science fiction isn't hyperspace travel, ammonia-breathing lifeforms, teleportation, terraforming, or peace between alien races -- it's the whole notion of a galactic standard currency. HAH! 12/4/02: Exchange rate improves Good money news today! Our exhange rate is now at 119 yen to the dollar. And with all the tempting stuff on Yahoo Japan right now, that has to be good news... ^_~ 11/26/02: Another new place to spend your money, heeheee! We've had a few questions lately about our deposit policy, and we realized that our writeup was kind of flaky in describing it. So here's a better clarification! First off, we're not asking for deposits because we don't trust you. *grin* We're asking for them because Yahoo Japan sellers want payment immediately after an auction ends, and without deposits, we wouldn't have enough cash on hand to pay them! It takes a while to do invoices, and then to get the payment for invoices, and then to transfer that payment to Japan... if it weren't for your deposits, we'd be out of business pretty quickly. So that's the deal. ^_^ If Emily or Marcia asks you for a deposit, don't take it personally -- just assume that they're making sure you actually get the item you're trying to win! 8/16/02: Exchange rate changed, backgrounds discounted Checking the finance-o-meter, it seems that our exchange rate is now 112 yen to the dollar. First off, one of Japan's biggest Rayearth collectors has decided to auction off a few incredible pieces from his private collection. These are some of the most beautiful Rayearth cels you'll ever see, and now they could be yours! Opening animation cels, cels from the first and last episodes of the series, even a whole page of cels done by character designer Atsuko Ishida -- can you tell we're really excited? ^_^ Check them out! In other news, we're also running a few auctions of our own! And a bunch of them are for Tenchi cels (mmmmmmmmm... nekkid Ryoko!). In other news, some Yahoo Japan sellers have decided to avoid the new YJ listing fees in a creative, if inconvenient, manner. Some auctions are being listed with both a starting and Buy Now price of 1 yen. However, the auction description or title lists a purchase price which will be valid if the auction is purchased. So before you start hyperventilating over the incredible 1-yen deal on that Utena cel batch lot, remember that something which looks too good to be true usually is, and drop us a line to find out what the seller is really asking for the auction. 3/9/02: Exchange rate updated, more new cels for sale, new links added Ahhhh, it was good while it lasted. Celga, Inc. 12/10/01: Mononoke Hime cels for sale! And... more web updates Awwwww, yeah. If you're looking for some primo Princess Mononoke cels, just click this link and feast your eyes! On the web end of things, we've changed the navigation bars to accomodate some new pages, and moved everything up to the main directory... as a result, if you've bookmarked the old Cels page, you'll want to update your bookmarks. Sorry for the inconvenience! 12/9/01: More minor updates The Order page has been updated to reflect the new exchange rate. Old data has been removed from the For Sale and On eBay pages.
